A Farewell To Paws
One journey ends, where many now begin . . .
After six years at The Farmer’s Dog, my time there has come to a close. And despite the uncertainty that usually comes with a major transition, I feel nothing but tremendous gratitude and potential as I step into the future.
When I joined TFD, I was a QA Engineer, looking to mould and shape culture and output as a regulator. Over the years, I became something else: an engineer looking to build and scale, a translator, a stakeholder manager, and a cross-functional collaborator for a rapidly scaling business. I learned how to navigate a fast-moving landscape of ideas and how to maintain complex systems amidst the inevitable noise of high-growth commerce.
I am deeply thankful for that experience. I learned how to be more than just a coder; I embraced the “What” and the “Why” behind a massive DTC success story. I learned how to manage significant technical and organizational challenges while continuing to deliver value.
But the most important thing I learned is that I’m ready to shift my focus back to the core of our craft. I’m moving toward a future where technical architecture and strategic “How” are treated as first-class citizens. I’m eager to apply everything I’ve learned to build systems that empower architects and creators to do their best work.
To my colleagues at TFD: Thank you for the shared journey. We tackled ambitious goals in a fast and strange time, and I’m a better engineer for the time we spent working together.
I’m looking forward to what’s next with a renewed sense of purpose. It’s time to start building on new ground.
